Modern Machines, real name Dimitry Mak, is a NYC-based DJ and producer. Though an established artist, Mak’s presence in the press is scarce, creating a mysterious yet still widely known name for himself. While he keeps a seemingly low profile, Mak seems to be everywhere, from playing the biggest festivals to remixing tracks by acclaimed names and releasing music with huge labels.
Releasing music for nearly a decade, Mak creates a range of sounds within the house music genre. Ranging from bass-focused club bangers to emotional big room hits, Mak’s vibrant discography proves his ability to make any crowd move. He’s released music with labels such as Ultra, Republic, Atlanta, Armada, Big Beat, Spinnin’ Records, and more, further proving his appeal.
He’s played at huge festivals like EDC Las Vegas, in addition to performing at renowned clubs, such as E11even in Miami, Hakkasan in Vegas, TAO in Chicago, and Nova in San Diego. Though he travels all over to perform, Mak can consistently be found performing in his hometown of New York City in clubs such as Somewhere Nowhere, Marquee, Lavo, Brooklyn Mirage, and Mission. Oftentimes, Mak incorporates live instruments into his set, shredding the electric guitar behind the decks.
Mak has been releasing original music since 2013 and quickly got into remixing other artists’ work, starting with names like 8 Graves and OWEL. Other notable remixes include his 2018 remix of “Ride or Die” by The Knocks and Foster The People as well as his take on “New World” by Krewella and Yellowclaw ft. Taylor Bennet. This led to bigger collaborations like his 2019 single with Adventure Club and Saint Slumber, titled “MakeDamnSure.”
Mak has also collaborated with leading brands like Gstar, Prada, Bose, Scotch & Soda, Belvedere Vodka, and New Balance.
